But is it not dangerous to eat a raw egg?
If the egg is contaminated with salmonella, you may be sick. That’s why you should cook well your eggs before you eat them. However, according to the American Egg Board, the coffee temperature is enough to kill any bacteria, making it safe. Eggs need to cook at 160 degrees and coffee water preparation is about 200, so it is ok.
Another way to ensure safety is to bet on biological eggs, especially if you are not sure about the temperature.
According to the American publication:
«This blend gives a reinforced dose of protein and good fats, which can help in muscle recovery. Apart from that, it continues to have the same benefits as if you only ingested the egg: it helps in weight loss, improves vision and even strengthens the immune system.»
On the other hand, Heather Mangieri, a nutritionist and spokeswoman for the Pittsburgh Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in Pennsylvania says that:
«An egg has varying amounts of 13 different essential vitamins and minerals plus six grams of high quality protein. There’s no added benefit if we put it in the coffee.»
So, we guess is up to you. But, one thing is certain: this trend has come like a thunder into the fit world. If you decide to try it, just be sure to pay attention to your coffee temperature, ok?
