How to pair Coffee and Donuts

Looking for wine pairings? Meh, you can find those anywhere. Yet, the way to pair coffee and donuts can only be found here.

Sometimes you want to have your cup of Joe, in the morning, at lunch or even for a snack; but a cup on its own doesn’t kill your urge to have something to eat. And, maybe, that’s why Starbucks – one of the world’s best known coffee shops – put such an investment on coffee cakes and other pairings.

We know that, sometimes, is hard to choose. You, for sure, don’t have time, or opportunity, to have a bite on each and every cake of the store to pick the one that goes better with the cup you’re having. So, we guess we have the answer that’s going to stop your anxiety.

Saveur invited Lucy Knisley – a New York-based illustrator, comic artist, author, and occasional puppeteer and food and travel writer – to illustrate a recipe, and she brought this amazing infographic with 12 coffee and donuts pairings.

If you’re having a big cup of black coffee, you’ll know that you will be able to taste it better if you pair it with an old fashioned cake; but, if you’re more up to a cappuccino, it’ll be better to have a ‘pillowy’, decadent jelly donut. On the other hand if you’re more of an Americano drinker, you’ll know that it will taste better with an apple fritter. Amazing!

Check the infographic with pen and paper, or just print it so you can take it with you anywhere you may go:
